Mad About Broadway

Mad About Broadway is a celebration of musical theater songs from the classics by Gershwin, Kurt Weill, and Cole Porter to newer shows like Waitress, Wicked, and Ordinary Days. You'll also be delighted by selections from composers Kooman & Dimond, Jeff Blumenkrantz, and Goldrich & Heisler. The show will be a mixture of love ballads, tales of heartache and pain, and hilarious comedy sung by Kathy Wurster and Jenny Haugen and accompanied by Ryan Henning and Laura Stelljes. Come on out for a night that'll leave you laughing, smiling, shedding a tear or two, and whistling a happy tune on your way home!

Kathy Wurster has loved the stage for as long as she can remember.  She has enjoyed playing roles in Carousel, Turn of the Screw, Music Man, Camelot, Pirates of Penzance, Gondoliers and Into the Woods. Off stage, Kathy performs as a soloist with MLC choirs, in the Summit Avenue Music Series and as a recitalist.  She holds an M.M. in vocal performance from the University of Colorado, Boulder.  Kathy works at Martin Luther College where she teaches voice lessons, vocal pedagogy and is the Music Director for their fall musical. She has been the Vocal Director for State Street Theater summer musicals Mary Poppins, Fiddler on the Roof and South Pacific. She is a wife to Miles and a mom to two beautiful girls, Ella and Izzy.

Jenny Haugen is a singer of many genres -- opera, classical, jazz, and musical theater, and has sung solos with the Minnesota Valley Chorale, as a recitalist, in the Summit Avenue Music Series, and is the lead vocal in the Blue River Combo. After earning her B.A. in Music at Bethany Lutheran College and M.M. in Vocal Performance at The Boston Conservatory, Haugen began teaching voice at Martin Luther College, Bethany Lutheran College, and privately.
